S. A. Blake: Director of Photography
A Director of Photography's work is to create a visual world that's rich, engaging, and reflective of the story's emotional and thematic realities. Only in being a servant to the narrative can I keep the viewer riveted to it. These three brief samples display contrasting engagements of color, tonality, luminance, depth, and texture.
S. A. Blake: Director of Photography
A select sampling of my early DP work. The average budget of these features was under $100,000. Every shoot day on these films unfolded at a breakneck pace, demanding up to 25 setups daily for interiors and 50 for exteriors, single camera. The challenge wasn't just in getting these setups in the can, but holding tenaciously to the cinematic design for the films in the face of daunting fiscal and logistical realities.
